There are some “Classics updates” that allow for the reuse of parts, like the arms and legs, but all of the newly sculpted bits seem to be heavily influenced by their vintage counterparts. There’s nothing really wrong with this, but I do find it disappointing when a character hasn’t been expanded upon at all for the last few decades.

<img figures’ chest plates are attached to their rocky back armor (Or is that their skin?), while their arms and legs are covered with more rock pieces that can clip on and off. I think I actually like the naked look most since it allows them to hang out on the shelf as unique humanoids, and you don’t have all that clunky limb armor taking up a bunch of space.

<img like the head sculpt on both figures, but I think Stonedar is my favorite. Rokkon just looks like a normal dude with silver skin and a Tron helmet. On the other hand, Stonedar’s facial proportions are a bit off. His brow line is heavy, while his nose is small. His mouth is also jutting out a bit, almost like he’s doing a duck-faced selfie. All of these traits combine to make him feel much more alien than his counterpart.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-24603" alt="DSC02028" retain most of their action feature, allowing the figures to bend down and transform into comets. They need a little help though, so each figure comes with an extra stony shell piece that encompasses them from the front. I couldn’t quite get Rokkon to fully submerge, so there was always one piece of his body popping out a little bit. This is probably just my error in transforming though. Other than that, I have to say the effect works pretty well. Continue to page impressed with the paint applications on the rocky surfaces of both figures. Stonedar has this really nice dark blue surface that’s been highlighted in gray, while Rokkon has a metallic blue crystal-like surface with silver highlights. Both look really nice and almost put their blue and orange skin tones to shame. There are a lot of painted details on the armor though, so that helps a bit. While my Stonedar turned out fine, my Rokkon unfortunately arrived with a paint chip on his right cheek and a big blob of red on the side of his helmet. Buying blind multi-packs is like toy roulette.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-24606" alt="DSC02036" have pretty standard articulation. Their head seem to be able to look down further to assist in transforming, but other than that there’s no added bonus. There’s definitely some hindering going on though. Their rock armor can definitely make for a challenge while posing. Even without it, Stonedar’s backpack rock keeps him from putting his arms down like a normal person.

Aside from their extra alcove and armor pieces, each figure comes with their unique ray gun. Each gun is colored to match its respective user. Both guns can also be held or attached to either figure’s chest armor.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-24604" alt="DSC02030" both of these figures are good representations for the Classics line, but for some reason I’m just not very excited about them. I think some of it is definitely the heavy reuse of the Trap Jaw/Man-E-Faces body. I know this line is %95 reuse, but it really sticks out on these two because they came together. I’m also a bit disappointed this wasn’t a three pack with the rock girl Granita. Some of the best figures in this line are concepts and one-hit-wonders. While she would have made the pack more expensive, I also think she would have gone a long way in adding to its value also.

-Vault

<img decoding="async"
