long Memorial Day weekend. I’m kicking off this week with another recently arrived import figure. So let’s take a look at Figma Pit, the angelic protagonist from Nintendo’s Kid Icarus franchise.

I remember playing the original Kid Icarus game back in the 80’s, but to be honest it was never one of my favorite games. But even though the nostalgic love isn’t there for me, I loved seeing one of Nintendo’s original characters making an updated appearance in the Smash Bros. series. Thankfully this also allowed me to experience the character in a less frustrating context.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" Factory’s release of their newest Nintendo character is pretty much spot on with his new 3DS game and Smash Bros. appearance. Most notable are his over sized hands and feet. This gives the figure more of an animated feel than his more realistic counterparts, Link and Samus. But even with this cartoonish design, the figure’s all new sculpt is still packed with details.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-23539" has sculpted feathery wings, arm bands with tiny designs, and buckles and straps on his leggings. Even the bottoms of his sandals have been given texturing. Unfortunately, Pit’s design isn’t flawless. The plastic used on his scarf and lower half of his toga is soft. This does allow for greater range of movement and gives off the illusion of more realistic fabric. But it also leaves tiny cracks that become visible when bent. That’s probably not a good sign for how the figure will age and you should probably refrain from putting stress on those areas.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full There’s even a bit of a cowlick sticking up off the back. The look works well with either of his alternate faces: happy/heroic, or determined/yelling. It also adds more dynamic style to his poses.

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full most Figma figures, Pit is very well articulated. His head, elbows, knees and ankles are all swivel/hinge joints. His shoulders are swivel/hinges attached to a ball joint. His waist is a double ball joint, while his hips are single ball joints. His wrists pegs that attach to ball joints, but they’re very limited in movement. Pit’s wings attach to his body with swivel/hinges, and they also have a hinge in the center to allow for flapping poses. Continue to page from alternate faces, Pit also has swappable hands. He comes with a pair of open, holding, and fists. There’s also an extra right hand that’s posed to hold an arrow in a drawn back position.

Accessory wise, Pit comes with his trusty bow. There’s also a translucent blue arrow and gold rings that can be slid over it. While the iconic bow and arrow look is good, I actually prefer the bow separated into two curved swords. It just looks a bit more dangerous.

<a made better by the fact that the eyeball is articulated. Just turn the bottom tentacle and you can have him look around in apathy. You’ll probably be seeing this guy pop up in future reviews…

The Monoeye comes with his own stand, but can also use the traditional Figma stand that’s included for Pit.

<a
