\"\"<\/a>Time to get another Masters of the Universe Classics figure out of the way and today I\u2019m going with Snake Face.\u00a0 I only had a few Snake Men as a kid, and SF wasn\u2019t one of them.\u00a0 But like so many other MOTU characters, he\u2019s become interesting to me over time.<\/p>\n

Snake Face is kind of the oddball of the Snake Men.\u00a0 I thought it was strange that he looked more humanoid than the rest of his brethren who looked more like snakes with arms and legs.\u00a0 You\u2019d think this would make him a bit shunned among his people, but as far as I know that really hasn\u2019t come up as a story element.\u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s why he was only a drill instructor until he gained his powers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On a personal note, I\u2019ve always felt his powers were weird.\u00a0 A snake monster turning people to stone isn\u2019t really anything new, but between my love of mythology and Castlevania I\u2019ve come to expect this kind of power from a female.\u00a0 But I guess Snake Face is a trailblazer, breaking gender barriers in the serpent community since 1987.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was interested to see how the 4H would update Snake Face\u2019s unique look, and I have to say that I\u2019m not disappointed.\u00a0 Aside from two new heads, which I\u2019ll get into in a minute, SF also has new shoulders, biceps, forearms, armor, and shorts.\u00a0 I\u2019m particularly happy with the arms.\u00a0 The large ridges look fantastic and I can\u2019t wait to see them show up in future figures.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The forearms are also pretty cool with a coiled snake wrapped around each one.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I imagine we\u2019ll also see his shorts show up on a few characters in the future.\u00a0 They have sculpted scales all around and are topped off by a fairly generic belt.\u00a0 His chest armor is entirely unique to the character though, and was made to serve as part of his inaction feature.\u00a0 The design is more leather than metal and looks like it has many layers.\u00a0 The two front straps are designed to be removed and replaced with two red snakes that plug in.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Snake Face comes with two heads: one normal and the other using his powers to turn people to stone. Until I got this figure I never realized just how similar his helmet was to Man-At-Arms, only with way more snakes and a ponytail of snake hair hanging off the back..\u00a0 His normal head has huge bugging eyes and an open mouth that shows off his fangs.\u00a0 I do wish his mouth was only partially open.\u00a0 As is, he looks really surprised at everything.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Snake Face\u2019s other head has the exact same helmet, but no ponytail of snake hair out the back.\u00a0 His eyes and mouth have red snakes emerging out of them, and there is also two more coming from underneath the helmet to join their buds.\u00a0 This is one of the coolest looking and disturbing attack features in the entire He-Man universe.\u00a0 Forget that it can turn you to stone, snakes bursting from someone\u2019s eyes and mouth would freak me the hell out.\u00a0 I definitely wouldn\u2019t want to go up against that guy on the battlefield.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Snake Face has one of the more complex paint jobs in the line.\u00a0 From the waist up his gray skin has been given a light green airbrushing.\u00a0 This really gives the figure some nice depth and also makes his body look like it\u2019s partially made of stone.\u00a0 The snakes on his helmet and arms have all been painted green, with the one in the center and the symbol on his chest being a darker metallic.\u00a0 The black leather armor has been molded in matte but given highlights in gloss.\u00a0 Not only does this bring out the detail of the sculpt, but it also looks wet and slimy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Snake Face comes with two accessories.\u00a0 First is the snake staff that both King Hssss and Rattlor came with.\u00a0 SF\u2019s is a dark green with metallic green highlighting the underbelly and patterns on the snake\u2019s back.\u00a0 I personally think this staff looks more imposing than the lighter colored version that came with Hssss, so he\u2019ll probably be holding it from now on.<\/p>\n

SF\u2019s other accessory is a shield.\u00a0 The sculpted intertwined snakes look good, but I personally think the shield is just too small.\u00a0 He-Man is the strongest man in the universe and a little buckler shield isn\u2019t going to save you from one of his punches, much less a blow from his axe or sword.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All around I\u2019m pretty happy with Snake Face.\u00a0 I\u2019m a bit disappointed in the lack of detail in his legs.\u00a0 There are no paint apps and I don\u2019t know why they didn\u2019t use the Whiplash legs so they would match the arms, but whatever.\u00a0 The figure looks fantastic from the waist up.\u00a0 I also love the two heads.\u00a0 Both are done so well that it\u2019s hard to decide which to use on the shelf.<\/p>\n
