30th Anniversary Cy-Chop"},"content":{"rendered":"

\"\"<\/a>One of my favorite things about the MOTU Classics line is the inclusion of new characters.\u00a0 So I was pretty excited about the 30th<\/sup> anniversary sub-line when it was announced.\u00a0 I\u2019m actually a bit sad that it\u2019s almost over, and I hope something like this shows up again before MOTU Classics ends.<\/p>\n

Cy-Chop was created by Mattel\u2019s Terry Higuchi and is the next to last character in the 30th<\/sup> Anniversary line.\u00a0 Although this character has a very distinct look, I personally think he fits in rather well with the rest of the Masters of the Universe.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cy-Chop\u2019s design is a bit all over the place.\u00a0 His arms and legs are made up of blue Beast Man parts, which give us hints as to what the character looked like before the accident destroyed the majority of his torso.\u00a0 I never really considered having a blue Beast Man-like character before, but I love how the colors look on the furry texture and would definitely buy a figure of Scychor before the accident.\u00a0 I think he\u2019d look pretty good paling around on my shelf with Kronis.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cy-Chop\u2019s head is an entirely new sculpt.\u00a0 It has an interesting robotic design that\u2019s a stark contrast to his more animalistic extremities.\u00a0 The design itself is also pretty interesting and reminds me a lot of the old Microman toy line, especially when coupled with his translucent Roboto torso.\u00a0 The addition of the robotic bits and organs inside his chest was definitely gives him his own feel though.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of hands or claws, Cy-Chop sports two giant robotic scissors.\u00a0 I love the random insanity that is sometimes injected into MOTU, and Cy-Chop\u2019s scissor hands may take the cake for being the craziest.\u00a0 The mad scientists that put him together saved his intestines, so I\u2019m assuming he still needs to eat and go to the bathroom but I don\u2019t know how.\u00a0 The scissors are also so long that he has to bend his arms, so you know he probably trips over them.\u00a0 Not to mention how unsafe it is to run with scissors that big!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cychop\u2019s paint job is more complex than you\u2019d think.\u00a0 His arms and legs are molded in blue with a tiny bit of black shading.\u00a0 His inner mechanical bits and intestines have been painted in pinks, grays, and gold, definitely making it easier to see them through the translucent blue chest.\u00a0 Cy-Chop\u2019s head is all silver with the exception of his metallic blue eyes.\u00a0 That same silver and blue was used on his scissors, giving them a nice cold mechanical feel.\u00a0 The one aspect to his paint that really threw me at first was the bright orange on his belt and forearms.\u00a0 It clashes with the blue, but in a good way that makes the figure stand out.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Cy-Chop has basic MOTU Classics articulation.\u00a0 The head is a ball joint.\u00a0 His shoulders and hips are swivel\/hinges.\u00a0 His biceps, wrists, and waist are swivels and he has hinge joints on his elbows, knees, and ankles.\u00a0 Cy-Chop\u2019s scissors are also articulated with a hinge joint on each blade, so you can definitely get some very wide and menacing poses from them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cy-Chop doesn\u2019t come with any accessories, just his giant scissors and Horde belt.\u00a0 Luckily the scissors can be removed and swapped out with any of the accessories from Trap Jaw, Roboto, and the figures with changeable hands.\u00a0 Unfortunately he doesn\u2019t come with any of those alternate pieces in his silver and orange color schemes.\u00a0 So hopefully we\u2019ll see them in a weapons pak eventually.\u00a0 I\u2019d also like to see some normal Horde Prime hands for him also, because sometimes he just wants to relax by the fire and read a good book without slashing it to pieces.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All around I think Cy-Chop is a great addition to the Masters\u2019 Universe.\u00a0 I can definitely see his giant scissors as an action feature if he were an original 80\u2019s figure, and the interesting combination of beast and machine gives him a very unique look on the shelf.\u00a0 I like getting updated figures of my favorite characters, but I really love the introduction of new and prototype designs.\u00a0 The ideas are new and interesting, and the 4H do a fantastic job of making them part of the line.\u00a0 Hopefully, this is an aspect of MOTU Classics that won\u2019t disappear.<\/p>\n
