\"\"<\/a>My first installment during Castle Grayskull Week is a two-pack that we\u2019ve had sitting around for a while now.\u00a0 Another great army builder set, the Snake Men two-pack offers a chance at finally diversifying your serpent army beyond just the main characters.<\/p>\n

Before this set was announced, it seemed that most people thought the Horde Trooper would be the next army builder two-pack.\u00a0 Not that I wouldn\u2019t love to get a bunch of Horde Bots, but I\u2019m really happy they decided to go with the Snake Men first.\u00a0 There\u2019re hundreds of these guys running around in the MOTU-verse, and they come in a variety of colors and species.\u00a0 Before the line ends I\u2019d like my Hssss to have a decent sized army under his command.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Similar to the Palace Guards, the Snake Men two-pack is an army builder that comes with four different heads.\u00a0 While all four snake heads do look similar (Is that racist?), there are some distinct differences that make each one unique.\u00a0 Most noticeably is the shape of each head and color of their eyes.\u00a0 The red eyed one has a rounder head with a small open mouth, while the yellow eyed one has a flatter head with a much wider mouth.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The blue eyed snake also has a flat head, but comes with a closed mouth instead.\u00a0 Yellow and Blue actually look like they could be the same head in different positions if it weren\u2019t for the differences in their skin color and eyes.\u00a0 My favorite head of the four is Green Eyes.\u00a0 His mouth is closed and he has these fantastic looking ridges above his eyes that really give his head a lot of character.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Unlike the Palace Guards, the Snake Men have two different bodies.\u00a0 I\u2019m definitely glad they went this route since the Snake race comes in so many different shapes and species.\u00a0 The first figure is General Rattlor\u2019s arms and legs with a human chest.\u00a0 They also added on a scaled neck piece that fits in well with the various heads.\u00a0 I really like the reuse of Rattlor\u2019s pieces.\u00a0 They have some great sculpted scales all over, which definitely helps the figure stand out from most of his snake brethren.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The other snake body is a hodgepodge of various villain pieces.\u00a0 He\u2019s got the normal chest, shoulders, and biceps.\u00a0 He\u2019s got the spiky forearms and boots.\u00a0 He\u2019s got the Skeletor hands and feet, with the bumpy thighs and that new scaly neck piece.\u00a0 Instead of the loincloth, he\u2019s wearing the snake scaled underwear.\u00a0 This body isn\u2019t quite as impressive when it comes to detail, but it still passes well for a snake minion.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Although both snakes are brown, the painting on the two bodies is definitely different.\u00a0 The Rattlor body has a much darker shade with fewer highlights.\u00a0 I know some people were having issues with the black plastic rubbing through on the arms and legs, but that really hasn\u2019t shown up on my figure.\u00a0 I did have a problem with is armor sticking though, so a little of the paint was pulled off his chest.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

The second figure is a much lighter shade that boarders more on yellow than brown.\u00a0 I had no paint issues with the second Snake Man.\u00a0 His arms and legs were even molded the proper color, so there\u2019s no black plastic to worry about.<\/p>\n

One think I really liked about the two heads with open mouths is the glossy layer they used.\u00a0 It really did a great job of making their mouths look wet and a bit disgusting.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Aside from the heads, the Snake Men come with two pieces of armor and four weapons accessories.\u00a0 I really like the new armor designed for these guys.\u00a0 The full plate with the snake symbol on the chest looks sturdy, but the shoulder pauldron with chain mail is my favorite.\u00a0 This piece just has really neat design, plus it looks great on Rattlor.\u00a0 My only complaint is that there\u2019s only two pieces of armor.\u00a0 It would have been nice to get another set of these armors in different colors.\u00a0 That way the snakes could all look a bit more different.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As for accessories, the snakes come with three weapons and one shield.\u00a0 The shield has a classic feel with its triangle design and Snake Men symbol.\u00a0 Kind of reminds me of Hssss\u2019 shield.<\/p>\n

The sword and spear are my favorite weapons of the bunch.\u00a0 The 4H did a great job designing these, and I love the snake head hilts with the curvy bladed tongue.\u00a0 These have a great look, and I\u2019d love to see this design show up more in Snake Men artifacts.<\/p>\n

The last weapon is a large spiked mace with a spiral-like pattern.\u00a0 I love how huge this club is, and the detailing is nice.\u00a0 I just wish it had more of a snake motif.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m really happy with my Snake Men two-pack, and I\u2019m definitely going to hunt down another pack so I can have all four snakes displayed at the same time.\u00a0 But I\u2019m also really hoping that we\u2019ll see these two characters again in green, and maybe even red.\u00a0 With different colored armor and a few new weapons, these two packs could go a long way in building a large enough army for all of Hssss\u2019 Generals to command.<\/p>\n
