\"\"<\/a>My last review of the week is the 2.0 Infinity Edition of the first two waves of OSM.\u00a0 These are a reissue of the four figures that started the line.\u00a0 You may not notice it right away, but there are some subtle changes that give this set its own unique feel and may replace some of the originals.<\/p>\n

The redeco of the Infinity Edition figures is the brainchild of Mel Birnkrant himself.\u00a0 While the first release versions of these four characters looked great, Mel wasn\u2019t quite satisfied and saw some room for improvement.\u00a0 Thus the reissued Infinity Edition was born!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like the original figures, these four come carded instead of bagged.\u00a0 The card design and art is the exact same as the first four and displays the standard issue figures on front and back.\u00a0 As someone who opens his toys, I don\u2019t really mind the reuse but I can also see where MIB collectors would be a bit disappointed.\u00a0 Speaking of opening toys, these figures can be easily removed without damaging the package.\u00a0 I love it when collectible toys do that.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

These four new figures have the same sculpt, articulation, interchangeability, and accessories as the originals.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve bought any of the previous versions of these characters then you know exactly what to expect in those areas.\u00a0 What set the Reissue figures apart are their paint apps and the color of plastic used on certain body parts.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to start off with Xodiac, who is probably the least different of the four.\u00a0 His helmet and accessories are made of darker translucent plastic, but other than that there doesn\u2019t seem to be any changes.\u00a0 The heads and bodies seem to be the same color.\u00a0 The Saturn tampo on his chest is lighter, but that could just be a factory created issue.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I know these are Mel\u2019s vision of what the figures should look like.\u00a0 But he\u2019s so close to the original that I wish he\u2019d have gotten more of a color difference.\u00a0 This way the original could be given the accessories of the new one, making him the base figure, while at the same time we\u2019d still have a new version of Xodiac in this wave.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Astronautilus has a few more changes than Xodiac, but they\u2019re also very subtle and I needed the two standing together to really see them.\u00a0 The biggest difference is the color of his head and tentacles.\u00a0 They used a darker shade of purple.\u00a0 The paint they used also has more of a matte finish and doesn\u2019t reflect light as much as the original.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

His space suit is a bit more metallic in the copper areas, and the red dot on his chest is also more vibrant.\u00a0 Another small change is that the translucent blue of his trident is brighter than and not as clear as the original\u2019s.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Metamorpho\u2019s suit is drastically different from the original\u2019s.\u00a0 It\u2019s funny because I used to think the first one\u2019s suit was white, but it\u2019s obviously a dingy gray compared to the ice-cream brilliance of the new figure.\u00a0 Part of this gleaming look comes from the fact that the entire body is molded in clear plastic.\u00a0 This gives the white nothing to compete with and also allows for some neat glowing effects.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Metamorpho\u2019s accessories have also been molded in translucent red and painted white to give the spheres an energy effect.\u00a0 The faces seem mostly the same though.\u00a0 There might be a few slight differences in the color shades, but I\u2019m not sure if those are intended or factory variance.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Last up is Inferno, my personal favorite of the group.\u00a0 The most noticeable difference is that this figures back flame and head are now made out of a luminous translucent that gives the effect of real fire.\u00a0 The original figure wasn\u2019t bad, but these new pieces are such a huge improvement and they really bring the fire aspect of this character to life.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Another nice touch about this figure is that his gun, helmet, chest, and symbol are also molded in the same translucent plastic and then painted.\u00a0 But there are large areas on the back of his helmet and chest that were left unpainted so that light could shine through the figure.\u00a0 It\u2019s an amazing effect that makes this figure one of the best in the entire line.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t sure about getting these figures at first, but after having them in hand I feel like they\u2019re definitely worth the money.\u00a0 Xodiac is just OK, but the other three are definitely an improvement over the originals.\u00a0 The OSM line has a lot of strange colors in it, but this set is by far the best and easily replaces the original as my base figures. The OSM Infinity Edition Reissue set comes with all four figures and is still available at Store Horsemen<\/a> for $50.<\/p>\n
