\"\"<\/a>Today’s article rounds out my coverage of the four main turtles in Playmates’ new Nickelodeon line. Don’t worry, I still have a couple more characters to look at before I’m done with the line though.\u00a0 But Reviewapalooza II is far from over, so don’t forget to check back for our last few updats this week!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve already reviewed Leo, Raph, and Don, and if you read those reviews you probably have a good idea what I\u2019m going to say about Mikey. He’s never been my favorite turtle, but this is still a really good figure of him.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like the rest of his brothers, Mikey is a completely new sculpt.\u00a0 I know I\u2019ve said it three times before, but I really do love that the four brothers are unique sculpts. \u00a0It gives each figure their own unique character, which makes them seem a bit more important than just a basic body with head modifications.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mikey\u2019s uniqueness is clearly visible.\u00a0 He\u2019s the shortest of all four turtles.\u00a0 Not just by a little either, before I even lined them all up I could see that he\u2019s noticeably smaller.\u00a0 I\u2019m guessing he\u2019ll be shorter on the new cartoon, but I\u2019m glad Playmates chose to make also.\u00a0 This definitely gives his figure a more immature look, especially compared to Don.\u00a0 It also sediments that he\u2019s their \u201clittle\u201d brother.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like the others, Mikey\u2019s head sculpt is a bit of a call back to his original figure.\u00a0 The right side of his mouth is more open and showing gritted teeth.\u00a0 I like that these figures are so expressive, but sometimes it comes off a little weird.\u00a0 The right side of Mike\u2019s face definitely has an angry or determined look, while the left side is happier and even possibly smiling.\u00a0 Leo has a bit of this problem too.\u00a0 It\u2019s not a huge deal, but it does make me pay close attention to which side of the face is showing while I\u2019m posing them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mikey\u2019s paint job also gives him that unique feel among his brothers.\u00a0 He\u2019s molded in a light color, like Don, but his green is definitely more vivid.\u00a0 It made him a bit tricky taking pictures because the light would reflect off of him, making him even brighter.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve mentioned this before, but all four turtles also have different colors of brown used on their elbow and knee pads.\u00a0 Again, it\u2019s just another little touch that gives the figures their distinctive feel.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Mikey has the same articulation as the other three.\u00a0 His head is a ball joint.\u00a0 Shoulder, elbows, hips, and knees are all swivel hinges.\u00a0 And then his two wrists are swivels.\u00a0 This amount of articulation is great, but I do wish it was consistent in the other figures.\u00a0 I\u2019ll talk about this more in my reviews for the Foot Soldier, but it can definitely make posing an action scene difficult for the bad guys.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mikey comes with his two main nunchuck weapons.\u00a0 He looks great holding and posing with them, but they are made entirely out of plastic.\u00a0 As you can see in my pictures, there\u2019s already stress marks on the chain sections.\u00a0 These stresses came from just putting them in his belt, so it\u2019s almost an unavoidable problem.\u00a0 I can definitely see these tearing apart after too much play.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not really sure what the answer is here.\u00a0 When the nunchucks are made out of plastic, then they\u2019re easier to pose and make action scenes.\u00a0 But they also wear out and usually break.\u00a0 But when nunchucks are given chains, they make more fun for playing but they can\u2019t really be posed.\u00a0 It\u2019s a really hard decision which to go with.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mikey\u2019s extra sprue of accessories includes a small sickle-like weapon that\u2019s connected to a chain with a weight at the other end.\u00a0 You ninja weapon experts are going to have to help me out here because I have no idea what this is called.\u00a0 It\u2019s a neat looking little weapon though.\u00a0 And since it\u2019s plastic it makes for great action shots.<\/p>\n

The only other thing Mikey comes with is four shuriken, two of which came as silver on Raph\u2019s weapons sprue.\u00a0\u00a0 Shuriken are OK, but I would have preferred another chain weapon.\u00a0 They should have given Don\u2019s triple nunchuck to Mike, and then given Don two batons.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re interested in the turtles in this line, then I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll find anything to be really disappointed over.\u00a0 All four figures have great looks and articulation.\u00a0 They\u2019re also good solid toys that were meant to be played with, which is awesome because it seems like I don\u2019t get a lot of figures like that anymore.\u00a0 Their price is also pretty perfect at about $8.<\/p>\n
