<\/a>Only one Wal-Mart within an hour carried 6″ Avengers figures. It was about half-an-hour away and I\u2019d be lying if I said I didn\u2019t waste a bit of gas hitting up that Walmart repeatedly. Sadly, only two of my Avengers figures even came from there. Toy hunting is such a blast… <\/p>\nI don\u2019t know how many times I\u2019ve been that to Walmart in the last few months. I don\u2019t want to know. When the first case hit that WM, I was beaten by a scalper and got to watch how much they sold for on eBay. When the second hit, I was at least happy to never see any more go up on eBay from my favorite<\/em> reseller. Anyway, I snagged a Cap from there and passed on the kinda-sorta-battle damaged Iron Man. Then, I waited as a third case slowly started to seem like it was never going to happen. <\/p>\n In the interim, I drove around a lot. I snagged Thor in the next state over. Vault scored me a Loki while he was coming home from a convention in St. Louis. I was making good progress, but then I hit a wall. I made a few out of town trips for work, but I had trouble even finding another Walmart that carried these guys. Hulk would eventually find his way into my collection while I down in Arkansas looking for him. <\/p>\n And you know what sucked? I was mad. My wife was quick to point out the absurdity of it. I had just found one of the two<\/em> figures I\u2019d been hunting for for weeks and I wasn\u2019t the slightest bit happy. I bet some of you might even know exactly what I was annoyed about. <\/p>\n Yep, I\u2019d missed Hawkeye. I wasn\u2019t done.<\/em> <\/p>\n My wife, wonderful that she is, set me straight by calling attention to my ridiculousness. I\u2019d eventually find Hawkeye (his review will be up later today), but that wasn\u2019t the point. I\u2019d searched in four states for Hulk. I wanted this Hulk. I\u2019d found it! And I was being a chump that focuses on what I don\u2019t have instead of what I do. I was that<\/em> guy. <\/p>\n Luckily, it didn\u2019t take long for Hulk to join in and sooth my rage. He started on me from inside the package. I knew he was big, but seeing him stuffed in the blister. His knees and hips bent into that old \u201cHe-Man\u201d or wrestler pose – that was awesome. I think I tweeted a picture of it because it was so awesome. <\/p>\n Then I freed him from his packaging and I was sold. In leaner times, I\u2019d had to purge most of my MLs and I always regretted not keeping a Hulk (either the First Appearance in green or non-screaming Face-Off I think, and adorned in that torn white lab coat from the old WM exclusive\u2026 I might go hunt for that lab coat now that I think about it). This is my new Hulk for the foreseeable future. <\/p>\n Despite his massiveness, I\u2019ve seen some folks think he\u2019s not in scale with the group. I don\u2019t know about that. I think he\u2019s just about perfect in terms of scale. I\u2019m always down for a massive Hulk (that Avengers Marvel Select one was mighty tempting), but I think this Hulk, clocking in at roughly 2\u201d taller than the group, works great for me. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n From here on out, this is really a love letter to this Hulk figure. I think the only thing I\u2019d change is adding a waist swivel. <\/p>\n The sculpt is excellent. You can see Mark Ruffalo in the head sculpt, the body is covered in detail and texture, both on the exposed skin and the pants. I\u2019m happy that we have a split between one fist and one grasping hand too. A two-fisted Hulk does make sense, but I like having the options. He can smash just fine with one first too. And the sculpt is made to work around the articulation, right down to the tattered rags of the pants hanging past, but not obstructing the double-jointed knees. <\/p>\n And I think that\u2019s where this Hulk really shines. The one-piece ball joint head, the two-piece ball-joints at the shoulders, wrists, hips (I\u2019m not the biggest fan of these, but they work great here), and ankles (and with that wonderful design where the peg from the joint goes into the foot and gives amazing range), the swivels at the biceps and things, the double-jointed elbows and knees, and the ab crunch with some pretty good range. The figure moves just about any way I want him too. <\/p>\n There\u2019s not too much paint work needed, but what\u2019s there is pretty sharp. That was particularly important considering this was the only Hulk I saw for weeks (I\u2019ve since seen more, see the Hawkeye review later this afternoon). <\/p>\n There were no accessories other than the \u201cHeroscape\u201d stand. I\u2019m still a bit grumpy that Hasbro changed the size of the stands from the Heroscape size (just think of the massive foot-pegged dioramas we could\u2019ve built!), but I do love these stands. I have six of them now and the more you have the better they are. I know some are coming with future ML figures, but Hasbro should consider selling these in a pack on HTS. I\u2019d buy extras for sure. <\/p>\n In all, this Hulk figure was worth the wait. As these have suddenly become much more readily available (at least here), it kinda hurts that I was so impatient, but I will still say he was worth the drive too. He\u2019s a great Hulk figure. The sculpt and articulation make him a blast to own.
