\"\"<\/a>I\u2019m really enjoying the Transformers Prime figures.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pretty well designed line with some interesting and unique takes on the characters. \u00a0But what I like most is the Arms Micron minifigures that Takara is producing for their AM line of figures.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re new to the Transformers Prime line, Arms Microns are mini robots that change from a weapon into a figure.\u00a0 Usually it\u2019s a robo-animal, but there have been a few minicons in the line too.\u00a0 These bots are designed originally by Takara and come with their Deluxe and Voyager class figures.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re into collecting these little bots, then you\u2019ve got your work cut out for you.\u00a0 Takara\u2019s original production of Microns were giveaways to promote the new Prime line.\u00a0 But hese figures were just redecos of previous toys and don\u2019t really match the rest of the Microns style wise.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The first true set of Microns were pack-ins with the Prime figures and would turn into a weapon that was similar to the character\u2019s cartoon weapon.\u00a0 These figures also sport 5mm pegs and holes so that they can be combined into larger weapon.\u00a0 These Microns are molded in one color and come on a sprue.\u00a0 (I know some people aren\u2019t into it, but I really enjoy putting these little guys together!)\u00a0 Instead of paint apps, these Microns have sticker sheets to add a bit of detail.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Takara is also releasing sets of gachapon Arms Microns, which can be purchased in capsule machines or as a box of ten.\u00a0 The first wave consists of a little Optimus Prime that turns into his blaster, Bumblebee that turns into a double bladed \u201csword\u201d, a gecko named Zedo that turns into an axe, and a cobra named Gobu that turns into a mace-like weapon.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When I began opening these figures, the first thing that struck me was that Optimus and Bee had paint apps, while the cobra and gecko are molded in one color like the rest of the Arms Microns.\u00a0 I was also surprised how good the paint jobs were on such tiny figures, especially on their eyes and mouths.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I think these paint apps ate up most of the budget as Zedo and Gobu don\u2019t even get a sticker sheet.\u00a0 But they do come in two different colors, so you can at least mix it up by having a black or purple version.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Prime and Bee also have decent articulation.\u00a0 They both have swivel knees, and ball jointed hips and shoulders.\u00a0 Because of their transforming, Prime also has hinges that allow his shoulders to shrug, while Bee\u2019s shoulders swivel forward and back to give him more reach.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The two Decepticons also have decent articulation; it\u2019s just different since they\u2019re animals.\u00a0 Gobu the cobra has the most basic movement since his body is a line with four hinge joints.\u00a0 This allows him to pose flat or up and ready to strike, but he doesn\u2019t really have any more dynamic posing than that.<\/p>\n

Zedo the gecko is a bit better though.\u00a0 His legs are attached to his body with a hinged piece of plastic, while the legs themselves can swivel.\u00a0 This allows you to prop him a little bit off the ground and position his feet in a few running or attacking poses.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like I said, I\u2019m a pretty big fan of these little guys.\u00a0 I\u2019ve even bought a couple of the main figures just to get their Micron.\u00a0 The gochapons are nice because they\u2019re entirely compatible and you can pick up a bunch at once for a decent price.\u00a0 (Less than $20 on Hobbylink Japan<\/a>!)\u00a0 I also really liked that Optimus and Bee were given fairly detailed paint apps and sculpting, while the gecko and snake are original to the line.\u00a0 I love the whole idea behind these figures, and I find them really fun to play around with.\u00a0 I just wish Hasbro could adopt this concept.\u00a0 It would make collecting these a lot easier.<\/p>\n
