\"\"<\/a>After a few weeks of hunting, I\u2019d given up on finding the six inch movie Avengers figures around my area, and I was mostly right.\u00a0 Luckily we were out of town for a comic book convention, and I happened across a few of the figures.<\/p>\n

The amazing thing about Loki\u2019s character is, that after being the main antagonist in two movies, you still don\u2019t hate the guy.\u00a0 He lies, cheats, steals, and even kills, yet we can still easily sympathize with his character.\u00a0 Even better, the audience is put in Thor\u2019s shoes.\u00a0 Why can\u2019t Loki just be good and come back to Asgard where we can all eat shawarma happily together?\u00a0 But alas, Loki is a villain and he plays his part perfectly thanks to Tom Hiddleston.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I really have to commend the Hasbro sculptors on this movie Avengers line.\u00a0 Most of the figures are really well done, but Loki and Hawkeye seem to be a bit above the rest.\u00a0 Loki\u2019s likeness to Tom Hiddleston is damn near perfect.\u00a0 My only complaint is that his face is too placid, and he would really look perfect with a slight mischievous grin.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The other thing I really love about this figure is his size.\u00a0 Most Loki figures are given muscular or bulky bodies.\u00a0 I realize this is mostly because of the influence of Jack Kirby\u2019s style, but I never really liked seeing Loki in hulking muscles.\u00a0 He\u2019s a thinking man\u2019s villain, the perfect tactician that would rather trick an opponent into defeat than face him head on.\u00a0 So this slimmer, human-sized look perfectly fits how I see the character.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The texturing and sculpted details on Loki\u2019s costume are pretty thorough.\u00a0 Every plate of armor or decorative seam is a sculpted piece, with nothing only using paint to show definition.\u00a0 Even the areas we don\u2019t normally see because they\u2019re covered up have these details. \u00a0One of the most impressive parts to me is the front ends of his coat.\u00a0 You can plainly see tiny sculpted fabric patterns running horizontally all the way down.\u00a0 His coat also has this subtle windblown effect on the right side.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Loki\u2019s cape is designed to be removable, and is held onto his back by a peg.\u00a0 His coat is made out of a soft plastic and can also come off, although without the extra body padding it makes his head look a bit large.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Loki\u2019s paint job is pretty good, especially considering he\u2019s a movie figure.\u00a0 There are a few areas with slop along straight lines, but they\u2019re mostly unnoticeable because of the slight difference.\u00a0 Probably the most annoying part is seeing the unpainted plastic on the underside of his hair, which I can easily fix myself.\u00a0 As for his costume, I really love that they didn\u2019t overplay the green and chose to go with the more fitting gray as his majority color.\u00a0 I also like that he wears golden armor, but not so much that he\u2019d be weighted down.\u00a0 Making it gold also seems much less battle ready than for show.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Loki\u2019s articulation is on par with most Marvel Legends.\u00a0 His head is on a ball joint.\u00a0 His shoulders are swivel\/hinges.\u00a0 His hips are also swivel\/hinges, yet they gave him a modified joint that doesn\u2019t require jiggering for it to move forward and to the sides.\u00a0 (Hasbro, this type of joint needs to be on every Marvel Legends!)\u00a0 His elbows and knees are double hinges, while his wrists and waist are swivels.\u00a0 Probably his most impressive joints are his ankles, which are swivel\/hinges with a rocker.\u00a0 I can\u2019t even imagine something like that showing up on a Mattel figure.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Aside from his removable cape, Loki comes with two other accessories.\u00a0 First is his helmet.\u00a0 It has a great sculpted design to it that wraps all the way around.\u00a0 They were also able to make the horns fairly large without making the character\u2019s appearance ridiculous.\u00a0 The helmet is made of a soft gold plastic and easily fits over his head.\u00a0 There\u2019s also a paint app of dark gold on the front of the horns, which is a nice touch since it wasn\u2019t absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Loki\u2019s second accessory is his staff.\u00a0 This piece has also been molded in gold plastic, but the blade and mechanical looking parts are painted silver, with the gem in the middle painted a metallic blue.\u00a0 I\u2019ve heard speculation that this gem is one of the Infinity gems, which would be a neat Easter egg.<\/p>\n

One thing I\u2019m a bit disappointed in is that none of these characters come with the Cosmic Cube.\u00a0 It was a pretty major part of the movie, and it\u2019d definitely be nice to get some of these Marvel Universe artifacts in to form.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of build-a-figure pieces, these Avengers figures come with stands.\u00a0 I\u2019m not usually one that cares about stands.\u00a0 More often than not they end up in my accessories box, never to be thought of again.\u00a0 But I have to admit, these Avengers stands are pretty cool.\u00a0 Each base is composed of three hexegons.\u00a0 Each piece is compatible with another bases piece, and they can be joined together at their sides in almost any way.\u00a0 The bases also fit perfectly on top of one another and can be stacked.\u00a0 This gives you plenty of options for displaying, and looks pretty good with all the figures.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We all know how movie figures usually turn out, but somehow these Avengers figures are some of the best Marvel Legends scaled characters we\u2019ve gotten so far.\u00a0 It\u2019s really a disservice to the line that they ended up being exclusives that were a particular challenge to find.\u00a0 Hopefully both Hasbro and Walmart will consider the demand for these characters when it comes to supplying future figures.\u00a0 In the meantime, I\u2019m going to start pushing pre-pubescent Loki from Journey into Mystery as my next Most Requested Marvel figure.\u00a0 (Well, maybe second most after Agent Coulson.)<\/p>\n
