\"\"<\/a>Just when I thought I had finished up my Transformers reviews for a while, the second wave of Takara\u2019s Prime figures bits. I guess it\u2019s fitting timing that their version of Terrorcon Cliffjumper is released just after Hasbro announced he\u2019ll be among their SDCC exclusives. <\/p>\n

My review is going to contain some spoilers about Transformers Prime.\u00a0 So if you\u2019re still waiting to watch the series, and you don\u2019t want to be spoiled, then you should probably stop reading now.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For those of you who don\u2019t care about spoilers and still want to know who this figure is, I\u2019ll give a quick recap.\u00a0 After discovering an untapped Energon deposit on Earth, Cliffjumper was ambushed by a group of Vehicons.\u00a0 He was subdued and brought aboard their ship, where Starscream promptly murdered him.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Poor Cliffjumper\u2019s torture didn\u2019t end there as Megatron stabbed a shard of Dark Energon (Unicron\u2019s blood) into his chest.\u00a0 \u00a0Back from the dead, CJ was now a mindless zombie that would attack anything in front of him without restraint.\u00a0 Megatron, pleased with his experiment, cut CJ in half and left his upper body for the Autobots to discover.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like most of the First Edition Prime figures, Terrorcon Cliffjumper became a bit of a challenge to find.\u00a0 He was originally going to be produced by Hasbro, but those plans were scrapped when they cancelled the FE line for the more kid-friendly Robots in Disguise.\u00a0 Fortunately Takara was still on track to make this figure, and even Hasbro listened to fan demand and added him as one of their SDCC exclusives. \u00a0Interestingly, even though the two figures share the same mold their looks are incredibly different from each other.\u00a0 Check out TFW2005\u2019s TF Con gallery<\/a> to see the Hasbro version.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The most striking thing about the Takara Cliffjumper is almost entirely made up of translucent purple.\u00a0 I was really shocked when I saw it for the first time.\u00a0 All of the preorder pictures depicted him in a solid and darker blueberry color.\u00a0 So ending up with a purple stained glass look was really nice surprise.\u00a0 He\u2019s basically one giant piece of light piping, which is damned cool.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The body zombie Cliff uses is the exact same sculpt as the FE Cliffjumper.\u00a0 The only difference is zombie Cliff has a new head.\u00a0 True to his show appearance, his right horn has been broken off while the right side of his face is a shattered mess.\u00a0 His right eye is even larger and bulging a bit because the metal around it has been torn off.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking of eyes, CJ\u2019s eyes have a really detailed sculpt.\u00a0 You can even see the tiny pupils if you look hard enough.\u00a0 But even though the figure is almost entirely translucent, they specifically molded his head\u2019s light piping a solid color while painting his eyes black.\u00a0 This gives him a great soulless and intimidating look.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Takara also did a good job with the rest of CJ\u2019s colors.\u00a0 Aside from his hooves, all the areas that were molded black on the FE figure are now a maroon brown.\u00a0 All the silver areas are basically the same, just a bit more dingy looking and the guns that flip out to replace his hands are now black.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Zombie Cliff is articulated the exact same way as FE Cliff.\u00a0 His head, shoulders, hips, and ankles are all ball joints.\u00a0 He\u2019s got swivel bicepts and wrists.\u00a0 His elbows are double hinges, while his knees are single.\u00a0 He also has a triple gun on each arm that flips out to replace his hands.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Since this is the Takara version, he does come with stickers for the unpainted areas.\u00a0 Out of the three figures I\u2019ve gotten so far, I haven\u2019t used any of the stickers on the main figure.\u00a0 That changed with Cliffjumper because none of his windows were colored and it looked a bit weird in car mode with no definition between the windows and the car.\u00a0 The black windshield definitely looks better.\u00a0 Now hopefully the stickers will last, but if they don\u2019t I can always paint them on.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like all the Takara figs, Cliff comes with a Minicon that transforms into a weapon.\u00a0 This time the Minicon is a rat-like<\/del> cheetah creature named Jida.\u00a0 (Thanks to poster LV for correcting me on that.\u00a0 Jida the cheetah makes much more sense, although I still like the idea of a zombie Transformer coming with a rat Minicon.)\u00a0 I always assumed that the larger main character gave orders to and controlled their Minicons, but Terrorcon CJ is no more than a mindless beast.\u00a0 So is Jida actually controlling him?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Jida\u2019s weapon mode is a brutal looking double meat hook\/chainsaw. \u00a0This is a weapon that would make Lobo jealous and they gave it to a creature that can\u2019t distinguish between Autobots and Decepticons.\u00a0 Kind of a horror movie waiting to happen.<\/p>\n

Like all the Prime Minicons, Jida has plenty of male and female ports so he can attach to various Transformers and Minicons alike.\u00a0 I really like this aspect of the figures because you can make some seriously crazy looking death machines.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty happy with this figure.\u00a0 I\u2019d gotten him before Hasbro made their announcement about making him an SDCC exclusive, but I don\u2019t think I would have changed anything.\u00a0 The San Diego version looks great, but there\u2019s just something about all that translucent purple that makes me like this figure more.\u00a0 Plus he comes with a Minicon, and I\u2019m loving these Minicons.\u00a0 There\u2019s only one thing that could make this figure better:\u00a0 If Takara or Hasbro were to start making Terrorcon versions of other Transformers.\u00a0 That would be a collection I couldn\u2019t avoid.<\/p>\n
