\"\"<\/a>I\u2019m trying to get the last couple Transformers Prime figure reviews up before the next wave starts to hit.\u00a0 This poor Vehicon got put on the back burner for a couple weeks while I worked out some of the newer figures.\u00a0 But it\u2019s finally his turn.<\/p>\n

The Vehicons are an interesting enigma in the TF Prime-verse.\u00a0 You\u2019d think they were mindless drone soldiers, like Battle Android Troopers.\u00a0 But they\u2019ve been shown fighting with competence, displaying cowardice, and even questioning Starscream\u2019s leadership.\u00a0 This is much more individuality than I expected from a bunch of robots who all look the same.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Sentient being or not, I was interested in the Vehicon figure because he looked cool and would make an\u00a0 excellent grunt to help pad out my Decepticon ranks.\u00a0 Unfortunately, like most of the First Edition Prime figures, Vehicon was impossible to find in the US.\u00a0 In fact, I don\u2019t even think Canada received any.\u00a0 Instead, I had to procure mine from Takara\u2019s release in Japan.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicon\u2019s robot mode looks pretty accurate to the character design.\u00a0 His limbs are given a nice amount of bulky armor from the panels of his car mode.\u00a0 But his body is still thin and angular like most of the Decepticon\u2019s designs on the show.\u00a0 I really love his blank emotionless face, long three fingered hands, and his tall spiky shoulder pads.\u00a0 All of which help make him more menacing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicon\u2019s biggest issue in robot mode is the huge amount of kibble hanging off his back.\u00a0 I don\u2019t mind the shoulders and legs so much.\u00a0 Like I said, they do a good job or resembling armor.\u00a0 The entire top of his car mode covers his back like a poorly constructed shell, or a short cape.\u00a0 Luckily, his body hides most of it from the front.\u00a0 But from behind it\u2019s hard to tell you\u2019re even looking at a robot.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicon\u2019s vehicle mode has this great Fast and Furious<\/em> meets Batmobile feel to it.\u00a0 \u00a0The design is sleek yet still very dangerous looking, like these Vehicons could easily chase you down.\u00a0 One thing I did have a problem with is how low it sits to the ground.\u00a0 Every time I push him around my desk it feels like he\u2019s scraping the undercarriage instead of rolling smoothly.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Surprisingly, there isn\u2019t a lot of paint work on the FE Vehicon.\u00a0 Most of his colors are molded what they need to be, the majority of which are dark purples and black.\u00a0 All of Vehicon\u2019s windshield areas are molded clear, which surprised me because I assumed they\u2019d be tinted.\u00a0 The one bit of unexpected color on him is his silver face and red mono-eye.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicon\u2019s articulation is pretty good, even if most of his joints are extremely stiff.\u00a0 His head and hips are on ball joints.\u00a0 His shoulders are swivel\/hinges.\u00a0 His elbows are a hinge connected to a ball joint, while his wrists, knees and ankles are hinges.\u00a0 Lastly are his swivel waist and thigh cuts.\u00a0 This gives him a decent range, but his armor and kibble do tend to get in the way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicon comes with one accessory, a blaster with a very simple design.\u00a0 The blaster is molded in one color and can be attached to his hood in car mode.\u00a0 In robot mode, even though it has a handle, Vehicon\u2019s hands aren\u2019t really positioned to hold it very well.\u00a0 But his hand can fold back, leaving an area open for the gun to attach to.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All around I do like this figure, but the bulky kibble really hurts his overall score.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be too disappointed if you missed out on this guy.\u00a0 He\u2019s just not quite as good as the rest of the First Edition figures.\u00a0 But if you\u2019re still interested in growing your Decepticon army, then keep an eye out for the upcoming Robots in Disguise version.\u00a0 From early looks he seems much more simple with far less kibble.<\/p>\n
