\"\"<\/a>Sorry for the late update everyone, I\u2019m running a bit behind today.\u00a0 But the website must go on, and before we start talking about Toy Fair, I\u2019m finishing the second half of the giant Legion of Super-Heroes 12-pack review that Noisy started on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Like Noisy, the Legion is just one of those areas to the DC Universe that I never really got in to.\u00a0 I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they kept rebooting the series.\u00a0 But like so many books, I did enjoy the 90\u2019s run and tried to keep up with it.\u00a0 Introduction of more lineage characters like XS and Thunder also piqued my interest.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Legion book I\u2019ve enjoyed most over the years has been Superboy\u2019s Legion, by Alan Davis and Mark Farmer.\u00a0 Although it might be considered sad that my love for these characters comes from an Elseworlds.\u00a0 But it\u2019s a fantastic book that builds on Davis\u2019 earlier work in his JLA: The Nail Elseworlds, and takes a look at what would happen if Superman didn\u2019t appear on Earth until the Legion\u2019s time period.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Superboy is one of those characters that I haven\u2019t been waiting for, but I do enjoy having.\u00a0 Like most of this set, he uses the shorter Kid Sinestro body and fits in well with the other teenage characters.\u00a0 They also gave him the Legion ring right hand.\u00a0 Aside from his new head, he also comes with new shins that have sculpted boot tops.\u00a0 His crotch piece is also new, and so is the separate belt piece that fits over it.\u00a0 Lastly he has a new short cape, which we might see on some future Legionnaires.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This figure would be perfect if it wasn\u2019t for his head sculpt.\u00a0 Or more specifically, his mouth sculpt.\u00a0 I really love the majority of what the Four Horsemen produce, but they need to choose a different look when it comes to sculpting a smiling face.\u00a0 Even with a big grin, people don\u2019t normally smile showing their lower teeth, and when they do it makes them look unnatural.\u00a0 Action figures are no different, which is why Superboy and Star Girl just don\u2019t look right.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Lightning Lad doesn\u2019t have much going on when it comes to new pieces.\u00a0 He\u2019s got the mandatory ring hand, and a newly sculpted head.\u00a0 For some reason his head sculpt reminds me of Shaggy from Scooby Doo, but other than that it looks pretty good.\u00a0 I am a bit disappointed with the paint on his eyes though.\u00a0 It seems that about half of this set was given eyes that are looking up.\u00a0 This is one of those quality control issues that I wish could get resolved.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to mention this here because I feel it\u2019s most relevant to Lightning Lad.\u00a0 I realize this 12-pack was probably at its limits when it comes to how much money Matty would put in, but I really wish there were a couple of extra accessories.\u00a0 A yellow recoloring of Superman Red\/Blue\u2019s electricity effects would have been perfect for LL.\u00a0 It also would have been easy to give us an orange eagle for Chameleon Boy , similar to Beast Boy.\u00a0 Accessories like this would have been cheap since they were already developed, and I think it would give a bit more value to the set.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The funniest figure in this entire set has to be Matter-Eater Lad.\u00a0 His head is the only newly sculpted piece, but it is magnificent!\u00a0 His right cheek is bulging full like a hamster, while the other side of his mouth is clearly in chew mode.\u00a0 To top it all off, his eyes have the perfect \u201cYeah, I ate the toaster.\u00a0 What\u2019chu gonna do about it?\u201d expression.\u00a0 I only wish all DC figures could have this much personality.\u00a0 Continue on page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Aside from Wildfire,Ultra Boy is the other adult sized figure.\u00a0 His head, belt, and shins are all new pieces.\u00a0 I really love his head sculpt too.\u00a0 It has this great determined\/pissed look.\u00a0 His mouth is even open and it looks totally natural.\u00a0 The only bad thing about his head is that it seems a bit small for the adult body.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Ultra Boy comes with the only open hand in the set, but I\u2019m not sure if this is a new piece.\u00a0 It looks similar to the regular adult ungloved hand; the flesh colored paint they used was so thick that it sealed the tip of his thumb to his index finger, ultimately limiting what accessories Ultra Boy can hold.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Chameleon Boy is an interesting figure.\u00a0 Aside from his head, he actually has a brand new upper torso piece.\u00a0 The piece is smaller like other teen bodies, but its shoulders extend over the top of the biceps.\u00a0 I\u2019m kind of curious if we\u2019ll see this piece on future figures.\u00a0 CB also has a newly sculpted head that showcases his pointy ears, antenna, and a happy expression.\u00a0 They also did a great job on the paint, giving his skin a darker or lighter orange color in certain areas.\u00a0 I still would have wanted an orange eagle though.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Timber Wolf is the last figure of the set and he has my favorite head sculpt, aside from the ridiculousness that is Matter-Eater Lad.\u00a0 I really love the cocky expression on his face, and his hair does that cool vampire effect where it whooshes back into points.\u00a0 I also really like his dark orange and black paint job, with the gray wolf symbol on his chest.\u00a0 He\u2019s a great example of a simple and clean looking figure that only needs a new head.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Legion set also comes with two accessories, kinda.\u00a0 The first is Proty, a shape changing little creature that resembles a pile of mashed potatoes.\u00a0 Although he doesn\u2019t look it, this figure is made of hard plastic and isn\u2019t even bendy.\u00a0 So he\u2019s stuck doing a waving pose.\u00a0 The figure does have a really nice paint job though.\u00a0 His white plastic has been highlighted with dark yellow and brown spots to show off his odd definitions.\u00a0 He\u2019s also been covered with a layer of gloss, so the whole figure looks wet and a bit disgusting.<\/p>\n

The 12-pack also comes with a Legion flight ring.\u00a0 The ring is made of metal and coated in a shiny gold.\u00a0 It makes for a nice prop accessory, but I just don\u2019t really care about it.\u00a0 I\u2019d rather see extra money go towards accessories my figures can use.<\/p>\n

All around this set is pretty nice.\u00a0 The biggest problems I\u2019ve had are with paint issues, but there\u2019s nothing major that I can\u2019t fix.\u00a0 Even though the 12-pack sold out both times it was released, I\u2019m not sure Matty considers it a \u201csuccess\u201d.\u00a0 I would be up for another multi-pack Legion, since it would be the easiest way to get through so many figures, but I have doubts it will happen.<\/p>\n
