time I bought a dinosaur.\u00a0 That is, until recently.\u00a0 With the new Imaginext Dino-Riders, it seems like I\u2019m picking up a toy dino every week.\u00a0 And now Revoltech\u2019s adding to my current collection with their new Jurassic Park T-Rex.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This figure\u2019s been a long time coming.\u00a0 Scheduled to be figure #14 in the Sci-Fi Revoltech line, the Jurassic Park T-Rex\u2019s original release date was November of 2010.\u00a0 But there were some licensing issues along the way and the folks at Kaiyodo had to shelve his production until now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14566\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex1.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex1.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex1.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, has been on my \u201cto buy\u201d list ever since his prototype debuted a couple years ago.\u00a0 I had grand plans to mingle him in with my growing collection of kaiju Revoltechs, giving him his own space on my makeshift Monster Island (i.e., my toy shelf).\u00a0 But with his licensing issues and the denial of more Godzilla Revoltech\u2019s by Bandai, I was beginning to feel a bit hopeless about this new Sci-Fi line that I\u2019d grown to love.\u00a0 Even though we\u2019ll never get our Godzillas, I\u2019m really thankful that Kaiyodo was able to follow through with production of Mr. Rex here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14567\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex2.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex2.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex2.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex2.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like the Sci-Fi kaiju, the T-Rex has an amazing amount of detail to his sculpt.\u00a0 But where their skin looked like a costume come to life, the T-Rex\u2019s body looks real.\u00a0 Sculpted details like muscles and veins only add to the already realistic features of scales and textured rib bones.\u00a0 \u00a0There are even sculpted bits of loose flesh that hang down under his jaw and around his neck.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14568\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex3.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex3.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex3.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex3.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Rex\u2019s paint job is also extremely complex and does an incredible job of adding to his realistic look.\u00a0 The figure itself is molded in the light tan color of his underbelly, then a dark brown wash was added to give more depth to the sculpt.\u00a0 There\u2019s a very dark green added with stripes of military green color running along his back.\u00a0 Then there are the very dark brown tiger stripes that run along his sides.\u00a0 To top it all off this figure has a mostly glossy coating, making his flesh look moist and alive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14569\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex4.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex4.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex4.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex4.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like most Revoltech figures, the T-Rex has a wide range of movement.\u00a0 His head, lower neck, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and tail bone are all revolver joints.\u00a0 There\u2019s a swivel about a quarter way down his neck, while his jaw and shin are hinged, and his tail has a bendy wire running through it.\u00a0 <a title=\"Continue to page 2...\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14570\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex5.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" said, his articulation is excellent.\u00a0 I love the realistic poses that his neck joints and tail allow for.\u00a0 But one of the frustrating things about this figure is how difficult he can be to stand.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s mostly because I\u2019m used to posing human toys, and not bipeds that are oddly proportioned and stand like chickens.\u00a0 There were definitely some poses I wanted to take pictures of him in, but it just wasn\u2019t possible because of how top-heavy his head makes him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14571\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex6.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex6.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex6.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex6.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The T-Rex comes with a little <em>The Lost World<\/em> placard, the ever present orange box, and a couple of alternate feet as accessories.\u00a0 His alternate feet have the toes together and are made for running poses, when his foot is in the air.\u00a0 Or possibly laying poses, which is what I used them for since I couldn\u2019t get him to balance on one foot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14572\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex7.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex7.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex7.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex7.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>T-Rex also comes with a great looking base.\u00a0 It\u2019s a muddy and rocky area with bits of shrubs and a couple of trees.\u00a0 The trees are actually connected to the base by two revolver joints and can be positioned in various ways.\u00a0 The base itself has two footprints where you can place his feet, but you\u2019re supposed to take them off the Rex first and attach his ankle revolvers into the base for more stability.\u00a0 This is an ingenious design.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex8.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14573\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex8.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex8.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex8.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/trex8.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m always up for a dino figure, especially one that\u2019s done this well.\u00a0 Even if I have some difficulty posing him, he\u2019s still extremely fun to play with and definitely a favorite of mine.\u00a0 This figure retails for about $30 plus shipping, and he\u2019s definitely worth it if you\u2019re a dino fan.\u00a0 Now if only they could do a
