<\/a>I love finding unexpected toys when I\u2019m out shopping for essentials (unless I have no extra money, then it sucks),\u00a0but fate was on my side Thursday evening and I was there to grab Star Wars The Clone Wars Barriss Offee from my local Wal-Mart.<\/p>\n

Barriss Offee is one of those tertiary Star Wars characters that mostly show up in background appearances, yet contains that mysterious quality that makes fans latch on and want to know more.\u00a0 At least that\u2019s how I felt when I first discovered her back in Episode II.\u00a0 So I was pretty happy when they made her a reoccurring character on The Clone Wars animated series.\u00a0 Not only did we get to finally learn more about her character and personality, but she and Ahsoka developed a cute friendship and a kickass team.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I haven\u2019t picked up the Vintage Collection figure yet, but it\u2019s going to be hard pressed for any of the Barriss figures to beat this Clone Wars version.\u00a0 The animation in The Clone Wars has a simplified feel to it, so it\u2019s really surprising to see so much detail pop up in the sculpt of those characters.\u00a0 Not only does Barriss\u2019 bodysuit have its signature ribbed pattern, but her cowl and capelet are encompassed by an inlaid pattern.\u00a0 Her belt contains a sculpted buckle and pouch, and her left arm has an extremely detailed design with raised electronic buttons.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What\u2019s even better is how well the paint has been applied to all these tiny sculpted bits.\u00a0 Her cowl and capelet have been painted with a dark wash that really makes the sculpt stand out.\u00a0 Even the tiny painted buttons on her gauntlet are clean and slop free.\u00a0 My favorite part of the paint job is her face though.\u00a0 Not only are her freckle-like tattoos perfectly applied, but her eyes actually have a realistic and expressive look to them.\u00a0 Definitely better than those large soulless orbs they gave the new Ahsoka.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

One really interesting design element to Barriss is her fabric skirt.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what kind of fabric was used, but it\u2019s very thick. \u00a0I thought this would be a hindrance at first, but the skirt has been hemmed in four places to give it a more natural look of folded fabric.\u00a0 There\u2019s also been some sort of shiny coating given to the outside which allows the skirt to be twisted and fashioned, but still hold its shape.\u00a0 You can even lean her against it and it will hold her up. Alright, enough with the gushing.\u00a0 This figure isn\u2019t entirely perfect.\u00a0 She only has eight points of articulation.\u00a0 Her head, forearms, waist and hips are all swivel joints, while her elbows are swivel\/hinges.\u00a0 I don\u2019t mind having so many swivel joints, because what really hurts this figure is the lack of elbows and knees.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why they didn\u2019t copy Ahsoka\u2019s articulation and give her swivel\/hinge knees and elbows, but I would have even been happy with just hinge joints.\u00a0 As is, Barriss can only take a few vanilla poses and action scenes are pretty much out of the question.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Aside from her stand and the game elements, Barriss comes with three accessories.\u00a0 First is her lightsaber with its translucent blue beam.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure if the sculpt is new at all, but she can hold it fine, even with her very small hands.\u00a0 Her other three accessories are the Geonosian larvae worms that were used to control her mind in the Season 2, Episode 8: Brain Invaders.\u00a0 The worms are a simple, but sculpted to be wound around a figures arms or legs.\u00a0 There\u2019s even a smaller worm emerging from an egg.\u00a0 All together they\u2019re pretty good accessories, and now my Undead Geonosian has something to carry around.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though I\u2019m extremely disappointed in her articulation, this Barriss figure is damned near perfect in every other way.\u00a0 Plus, she looks really nice sitting on my shelf next to Ahsoka.\u00a0 But my Star Wars girls won\u2019t be complete until I get my Riyo Chuchi\u00a0 C\u2019mon Hasbro, complete the Clone Wars trifecta of cute girls!<\/p>\n
