<\/a>August\u2019s bonus MOTU Classics release gives us Megator.\u00a0 Now Tytus finally has someone to spar with and we get to add one more soldier to our Preternian Horde army.\u00a0 We also get an alternate head based on his zombified resurrection in modern Eternia.\u00a0 Now if he just had better articulation\u2026<\/p>\n

I never knew about Tytus and Megator as a kid.\u00a0 So when the plans to release them in the Classics line were revealed, I didn\u2019t really have a strong opinion either way.\u00a0 Sure getting some updated giants was cool, but I didn\u2019t have that nostalgic love for them.\u00a0 When Tytus came out he made a great addition to my shelf.\u00a0 But let\u2019s face it, he had problems.\u00a0 His articulation was minimal by the line\u2019s standards, and then there was that ridiculous weapon which he couldn\u2019t even hold properly.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t give me much to look forward to with Megator, but the Horsemen were still able to deliver a pleasant surprise or two.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What surprised me most is that Megator doesn\u2019t share the exact same body as Tytus.\u00a0 The only parts the two have in common are their biceps, forearms, crotch, and thighs.\u00a0 Everything else is different, which I didn\u2019t expect.\u00a0 Probably one of the subtlest examples of what I like about this body is its posture.\u00a0 Megator\u2019s chest was sculpted with his neck and shoulders hunched forward.\u00a0 This gives him a great menacing Cro-Magnon-like look, especially standing next to Tytus.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Megator has long black nails on his fingers and toes which are nicely sculpted with lines and chips in them.\u00a0 His studded belt has a stylized looking \u201cM\u201d like the original, but the 4H added some ratty looking loincloth fur to make him a bit more decent.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure if there were plans for the original Megator to be part of the Horde or if it\u2019s just a nice coincidence, but I really love that his chest armor has that Horde Bat shape to it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Megator\u2019s living head perfectly matches his body\u2019s Neanderthal look.\u00a0 His hair hangs down in gnarly dreadlocks.\u00a0 His brow is thick while his nose is pushed in like a pug.\u00a0 His crooked teeth jut out of his mouth looking like their covered in plaque and maybe blood.\u00a0 They even added a bit of clear gloss to his mouth and nostrils for that added yuck effect.\u00a0 I\u2019m a bit disappointed with his eyes though.\u00a0 They\u2019re just these large black circles.\u00a0 They look too animated for my tastes and could use a bit more color for depth.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Megator\u2019s zombie head is actually much more impressive in person than I expected.\u00a0 From the leaked pictures it seemed more like an old man head with its wrinkles and balding pattern.\u00a0 But the right side of his head actually has teeth marks and a half gnawed-off ear from where he was caught by the iron jaws of the Central Tower.\u00a0 The rooted hair is also a nice effect, similar to Grizzlor\u2019s fur or Moss Man\u2019s flock.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t want to see it used all the time, but it makes for a fun gimmick.\u00a0 Even his eyes have a slight bloodshot tint to them, and the soulless black pupils look fine on a zombie.\u00a0 This head has actually tempted me to buy a second figure.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Megator\u2019s body is molded in that dark green color and then was tinted with light green and black in various areas to give his skin more depth.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s because he\u2019s not flesh colored, but I think the effect worked much better here than on Tytus.\u00a0 Megator\u2019s armor was also given additional detail with gold rivets and copper skulls, while his black loincloth has a light gray wash to the fur.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though Megator\u2019s body is different from Tytus\u2019, his articulation is still the same.\u00a0 His ball jointed head does work a bit better since he\u2019s leaning forward and his hair is not directly in the way.\u00a0 His shoulders, wrists, waist, and hips are all swivel joints.\u00a0 His elbows and knees are hinges.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want Megator\u2019s articulation to be better than Tytus\u2019, but I hope that this won\u2019t be an issue by the time Granamyr shows up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Megator comes with one accessory aside from his second head: a ball-on-a-chain flail.\u00a0 I realize Tytus came with his vintage accessory, but Megator\u2019s is so much more practical in a war.\u00a0 The orb part of his flail is huge like a spiked wrecking ball, with plenty of sculpted pock marks and gashes from plenty of use.\u00a0 The handle has a serrated knuckle-guard for combat that gets too close, and is connected to the sphere by a large metal chain.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a badass weapon that really puts Tytus\u2019 vacuum cleaner thing to shame.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All around, I\u2019m much more happy with Megator.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s because the 4 Horsemen shine when it comes to monster designs.\u00a0 But I also feel like I got a bit more of my money\u2019s worth with that extra head and real weapon.\u00a0 I may not have cared about him before, but Megator\u2019s definitely getting a nice spot on my shelf, maybe even two.<\/p>\n
