Slaughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itsalltrue.net\/?p=12883\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=left src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts0.jpg?w=640\" hspace=\"4\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><\/a>It\u2019s been a long time since I\u2019ve watched any professional wrestling, so I never really feel compelled to buy any of the figures.\u00a0 Well that all ended last weekend when I strolled into my local Target to find Mattel\u2019s WWE Legends Sgt. Slaughter on clearance.\u00a0 And you know what?\u00a0 He\u2019s a pretty good figure.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The professional wrestling phase of my life happened when I was about twelve.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t last for too long and was soon replaced with super heroes and comic books, but I do remember that time fondly.\u00a0 So when I saw the Sergeant was only three dollars, a perfect storm of nostalgia and a bargain took over.\u00a0 It\u2019s not just because Slaughter was a wrestler though.\u00a0 If that were the case I would have also picked up Ricky \u201cThe Dragon\u201d Steamboat (which I almost did).\u00a0 No, Slaughter was also a Real American Hero, literally.\u00a0 I always loved his GI Joe character, and the chance to own a six inch version of him for a very reasonable price won out in the end.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12887\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts1.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts1.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts1.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts1.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sgt. Slaughter\u2019s look is pretty perfect.\u00a0 He\u2019s wearing one of the many variations of his classic wrestling outfit.\u00a0 I was really impressed with his head sculpt.\u00a0 Slaughter\u2019s got a very unique look not only to his face, but his whole head.\u00a0 There\u2019s his trademark grimacing snarl, and that jutting chin to account for.\u00a0 So it was really nice to see just how well the sculptor captured his likeness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12888\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts2.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts2.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts2.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts2.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>His coloring is nicely done as well.\u00a0 His outfit is the familiar red, white, and blue.\u00a0 I would have preferred his camouflage, or his USA shirt, but this is fine also.\u00a0 Most of his body is molded in the color it needs to be, so there aren\u2019t a lot of issues.\u00a0 There is a very small amount of slop on his upper chest where the white of the shirt meets the flesh, but it\u2019s hardly noticeable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12889\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts3.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts3.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts3.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts3.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One thing that IAT Regular Dayraven has mentioned on various occasions is how nice the articulation is on these WWE Legends figures, and I\u2019m going to have to agree with him.\u00a0 Slaughter\u2019s got similar articulation you\u2019d expect from Mattel\u2019s other lines like DC or MOTU Classics, but it seems to be implemented better here and in some cases even improved upon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12890\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts4.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts4.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts4.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts4.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The ball jointed head is more in line with MOTU as it has a wide range of motion and allows for different expressions.\u00a0 Slaughter\u2019s also been able to retain his rocker ankles, which the DC line has not.\u00a0 Then there\u2019re the added improvements like swivel hinge wrists and double jointed knees which were standard on all the WWE Legends figures and not based on a character.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itsalltrue.net\/?p=12883&#038;page=2\">Continue to page 2&#8230;<\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12891\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts5.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts5.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts5.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts5.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m the first to admit that I don\u2019t know how Mattel works.\u00a0 They\u2019re a large and overly complicated company that is also very secretive about how they handle things.\u00a0 But I can\u2019t help to get even more confused when I see figures like Sgt. Slaughter here with the articulation that would lend itself so well to the DC and MOTU line.\u00a0 Instead of limiting or subtracting articulation from these two lines, why isn\u2019t Mattel creating a universal system that all three lines could use.\u00a0 Development costs could be spread thinner and figures would be getting the articulation that many of us believe is now standard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12892\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts6.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts6.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts6.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts6.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Something else I wanted to mention was the quality of plastic used on Slaughter.\u00a0 It\u2019s damned nice.\u00a0 First, the flesh tone they used for his upper body is a perfect color and doesn\u2019t even need paint layers to tone it.\u00a0 Plus the various flesh parts all match color wise.\u00a0 No different shades of hand\/bicep\/torso flesh.\u00a0 Then, there\u2019s the quality of plastic itself.\u00a0 It\u2019s all very solid and firm to the touch.\u00a0 Even on the hands, elbows, and knees.\u00a0 There\u2019s no warping due to packaging or gummy bendy feeling.\u00a0 I honestly didn\u2019t think Mattel knew how to do this anymore.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12893\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts7.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts7.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts7.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts7.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Slaughter comes with his three classic accessories: his hat, his whistle, and his sun glasses.\u00a0 All of which are great.\u00a0 The hat fits his head perfectly.\u00a0 The simple idea behind his sunglasses amazed me.\u00a0 They\u2019re held on by the bridge of the nose, so you don\u2019t have to worry about them falling loose.\u00a0 His whistle can hang around his neck, although I do wish it could also fit into his mouth.\u00a0 Slaughter also comes with a black WWE stand, which I\u2019ve seemed to misplaced.\u00a0 Thus, no picture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts8.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12894\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts8.jpg?resize=640%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts8.jpg?w=640 640w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts8.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.itsalltrue.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/sgts8.jpg?resize=400%2C300 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All around this figure was a nice surprise.\u00a0 I get a six inch Slaughter to boss my DC and Marvel figures around, and he\u2019s made with some excellent design and materials.\u00a0 As a DC fan it really makes me a bit jealous.\u00a0 I would really love to see Mattel adapt these qualities out to their other lines in the future.<\/p>\n<p>-Vault<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been a long time since I\u2019ve watched any professional wrestling, so I never really feel compelled to buy any of the figures.\u00a0 Well that all ended last weekend when I strolled into my local Target to find Mattel\u2019s WWE Legends Sgt.
