that I discovered a sever lack of them in my toy collection. It’s hard enough to get a good female action figure from US companies sometimes. When you narrow down the list to female robots, you’re pretty much just left with a few Transformers and EVE from WALL-E. I knew this, but it was never an idea I really thought about. There were just not fembot toys, and discovered the wonderful, and expensive, world of Japanese import toys. At first I was mostly distracted by all the nifty Kaiju figures that Revoltech was debuting. But, as I kept my eye Masaki Apsy. What does that mean? This figure is actually a model kit. All her pieces come on sprues and you have to assemble her. But when finished, you’re left with a fully poseable figure instead of a static model. I’ve seen this done with Gundams before, but this is my first time seeing it applied to a non-Mecha.

<a returns Google brought me were press releases and discussions about this figure. Even the image search mostly gave me the press release photos of this figure. It was a bit frustrating. The only bit of info I could find was one paragraph from a Phantasy Star Wiki:

“Elenor fights alongside you in two quests, “Magnitude of Metal” and “Doc’s Secret Plan.” She is the creation of the brilliant scientist Jean Carlo Montague. Though she is loyal to her creator, she seems to yearn for a normal life with real friends outside of Dr. Montague’s lab. She also has the abillity to talk to mags.”

So you Phantasy Star fans will have to fill us in on what we’re said, this is the first time I’ve assembled one of these kits, so I didn’t know what to expect. Luckily for me, these kits are designed with the amateur in mind. Every sprue was designated by a letter, while the pieces on the sprue each had designated numbers. There was no confusion with what piece I should be working with. Also, almost all the pieces snap together or are held in place. The only real need for glue was on her holding hands, which are three pieces and need to be a little more secured to actually hold things.

<a odd, because I just assumed that most things that come on sprues are designed by computer. But this figure was actually sculpted by Masaki Apsy, who did a fantastic job. From the few pictures I’ve seen, Elenor’s sculpt is pretty spot on. But beyond accuracy, the look of the figure is what sold me on her pre-order. She’s just got this cute yet still generic android design. Plus, since she’s a model kit, she actually looks like she’s assembled. Almost every line or joint is a separate piece and it brings an amount of realism to the figure. Continue to page 2…

<a comes with five sets of hands: fists, holding, holding/pointed index finger, open, and open with fingers splayed. These give her a variety of poses and emotions and were definitely more than I expected out of a model. You do want to be careful though. They are a combination of two to three pieces and can come apart very easily.

She also comes with a few weapons. There are two beam sabers, both molded in translucent green. There is a small ray gun pistol, and a much larger crossbow-like weapon that she can hold with two hands. Both of these are molded white and will need painting to be accurate.

Lastly, she also comes with an armored skirt piece that can be attached to her lower back with a ball joint. The sides
