<\/a> I walked into my Toys R Us this week not expecting to really find anything, and was pleasantly surprised by a nice little haul. Not only was I able to pick up the DCUC Golden Pharaoh and Jemm figures, but TRU also got in one case of the new wave of Clone Wars. So I was able to snag myself the new Ahsoka. <\/p>\n

The Clone Wars is on its third season, and I have to say I\u2019m a pretty big fan. With the exception of a few of the more boring Senate episodes and a couple of clich\u00e9 plot lines, I\u2019ve been pretty entertained by the series as a whole. It\u2019s definitely more violent than I expected, but in a good way. I\u2019ve come to really like the Clones as characters. Plus, the added relationship of a Padawan for Anakin adds much more depth to the character than the movies even came close to.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s kind of funny though. With as much as I like The Clone Wars, this is only the second figure I\u2019ve bought from the toy line. One reason is because of the noticeable difference in style. The aliens and robots, even the clones to a certain extent, can kind of fit in with the more realistic looking figures, but the human characters just don\u2019t blend as well.<\/p>\n

Like the zombie Geonosian, I just couldn\u2019t help myself when I saw this figure on the peg. I\u2019ve been waiting for a decent figure of Ahsoka. The first one was ok, but I really didn\u2019t like the look on her face. She had these half closed eyes that made her look either tired or stoned. It just wasn\u2019t a good look. So, I\u2019m glad Hasbro decided to make a figure with a new head sculpt.<\/p>\n

This new Ahsoka is far better. The figure is based off of her new third season appearance. As the series has progressed, Ahsoka\u2019s character has gotten a bit older. She\u2019s not quite an adult, but there\u2019re definitely some older teenage qualities: her face isn\u2019t as round, her hair tendrils are noticeably longer and pronounced, and her body is undeniably more mature looking. The sculptors did a great job capturing this new design, and I really appreciate the fact that her eyes are fully open this time.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite parts of the character\u2019s new design is her costume. She\u2019s definitely showing a lot less skin, but the overall feel of the look is much more adult and even a bit sexier. What\u2019s really interesting is how much darker her look has gotten. The whites are gone entirely, while the light tan colors have been replaced with various deeper shades of brown. It\u2019s not just the colors, though. Her costume now consists of various arm straps, a double belt, and even leggings with diamond shaped holes that reveal her skin. I\u2019m kind of curious; is this darker tone is a foreshadowing of things to come? Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Ahsoka\u2019s articulation is good, but not great. The Vintage Collection figures are really spoiling me I think. I was getting so used to these super articulated figures that I forgot what normal articulation is on a Star Wars figure. Ahsoka\u2019s head is a ball joint, but it\u2019s slightly hampered by her hair tendrils. Her shoulders, elbows, and knees are swivel hinges. Her forearms, waist, and hips are swivel joints. This gives her a good range of movement, but because I\u2019m now spoiled, I wish it were better. What\u2019s really lacking here are ankle joints. In the show, Ahsoka does a lot of crouching and lower stance posing when fighting. Ankle joints would go a long way in making these poses possible.<\/p>\n

Just a quick aside here while I\u2019m talking about articulation. Hasbro needs to find a better way to articulate hips. These swivel joints look good, but they just aren\u2019t cutting it when it comes to posing. I\u2019m not a big fan of the swivel\/hinge joints they use either. Those joints are great for articulation, but usually look very strange on the figure. Just look at the strange hips on the Vintage Collection Lando. On figures like this Ahsoka I would have preferred swivel\/hinges just because they would be hidden by her skirt. But that won\u2019t work with every figure, and I think it\u2019s about time we got something that worked for both looks and articulation.<\/p>\n

Ahsoka comes with two lightsabers that are powered on and two hilts. In this new season, she\u2019s learning to master the art of using two blades at once, and her second lightsaber is a smaller dagger-like weapon. I\u2019m really glad they went this way with the character as it adds much more personality to her fighting style. The figure looks good with them as well. Hasbro was also considerate enough to add two holes to Ahsoka\u2019s belt that her two lightsaber hilts can attach to, which also looks pretty good.<\/p>\n

Since this figure is part of that Galactic Battle Game, she also comes with a stand, one game die, and a statistics card.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty happy with this figure, even with its few issues. I love the character\u2019s new look in the show and I\u2019m glad Hasbro didn\u2019t take long to duplicate it in plastic. The only thing that would make it better is if they released these Clone Wars characters in a more realistic look eventually. <\/p>\n
