Poppies 2012

For all the lines not covered in our themed forums. Think Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Voltron, Wrestling, Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Video Game Licenses, TV & Film Licenses... do I need to go on or did you have it figured out before I even started?

Thanks to all you guys who kept the forums active over the last two months. I've been on a crazy odyssey since November... [sweat]

And finally the Judges picks get posted. Take a look at who won the 2012 Poppies. The judges picks, in some categories, are quite different then either MWC or the people.

Go check it out.

We judges are building the ballots now. Once there finalized we will place our vote then open it to the public for theirs. I will admit that we're about two week behind schedule this year.

The Pop Culture Awards, The Poppies are back for 2013 and the Ballots are now live! Something we’re trying yo emphasize this year:

Remember that these aren't 'toy' awards, and they aren't 'action figure' awards. They are pop culture collectibles awards. That doesn't mean toys aren't here - lots of us collect toys. But it does mean that being a great toy isn't the first or only aspect that matters

Please take your time and look at each link as we have chosen multiple versions of characters like Iron Man, Batman or Joker in several of the categories. There are new companies making there first appearance this year.

Swing by and place your votes then come back in February to see who your choices line up with the industry judges.

man... NECA for me this year, in a huge way. DCC next year, if they can keep up the progress they appear to be making.

there, got my votes in. i just reflected again that what NECA and DST, through the marvel select line, have done this year are easily as cool for 1/12 as a sideshow or hot toys product in 1/6, but at 1/10th the price. really, look at how good the wolverine was, how jackmanesque, and then how unbelievable the arnie was for those dutches... dutchi? anyways, it was spot on, and both companies have stepped up their paints to boot. hot toys can suck it for all i care.

then on best playset, i know castle grayskull is going to take it on nostalgia grounds (though everyone, or at least most everyone, seemed to act like it was the first grayskull since the first... and it wasn't.) but for the money, both cost of item and cost to ship, i don't think any playset piece this year beats the NECA predator wall. it was just too perfect. those sideshow dio pieces continue to look cool, but the price tag is just well outside what the average collector can afford. and they need to come clean, they''re sized for 1/12, not 1/6 displays... but then, price them like that. there have to be cheaper materials to work in that would still be sturdy and look cool.

This thread is two years old and yet continues to troll me. Every time I see it, I read it as Popples and think they're making a comeback...
Brock: Honestly, Hank, where do you pick that stuff up? I never see you read!
Dean: It's weird, right?
