I'm that weird kid that always preferred "vehicle" Voltron, but Voltron was never high on my list of interests. That said... a big 23" tall one... has got to be one of the biggest "man, I really don't need that"s so far...

And thanks for all the links! I'll need to get some Voltron love into tomorrow's. (Provided I get some sleep, went to bed arond 6 and woke up at 930 and couldn't fall back asleep. I'm on mad zombie energy at the moment).

--------

I haven't bought any toys since April. I'm pretty much getting out buying new toys. There's some small exceptions, like 3a, but I've already started selling off quite a bit of my collection. However, I am now becoming tempted by larger, stand out pieces. The Voltron fits the bill, but the cost, if this was a smaller company, I could understand. It's Mattel, and I get that kneejerk reaction that if Hasbro was making this, it would be half as much. So in conclusion, can I afford? With cutting back like I have, most definitely. Do I want to spend that much? Not really.

BTW, if you wanted to see the action features of them transforming

I like it, but don't love it. I think it would work at regular retail (with a slightly lower price point) but as it is I am saying too pricey. I am not saying no, but not saying yes either.

you know, mattel must have been lying to us the whole time, motuc must be doing unprecedented numbers of sales for us to see them reconfiguring so much of their product release schedule to the subscription style, online only model. cuz seriously, voltron is, i think, a modest license, but they've gotten 20 waves of product out of dc... that's almost a literal crapton... and they're moving that to primarily an online model, voltron is online only, gb is online only... seriously, motuc must be doing epic sales. maybe i was wrong in my assessment last year, that the increased linger time on sale day meant interest was waning. maybe they've just finally hit their stride in production numbers.

but let me ask this, voltron lovers... how long can we do this? so like, this year alone, you complete the lion-based voltron... and they showed one from the cartoon design, but i suspect that version is destined for retail... but maybe that will go up on the website next year... then there's a machine voltron, right? there's three years of subs... then what? giant ass robeasts? shouldn't they be staggering voltrons w/ robeasts? how long can that license yield product? it didn't exactly have a lengthy cast of regulars...

To me, that’s the beauty of it. It won’t go on for very long.

I always wanted a Voltron with all the pilot figures when I was a kid, and this one is nice, but too pricey and spread out to be enjoyable for me.
