Really, that BC sculpt is so goddamn awesome that they could "invent" characters for it and sell them in whatever colors are just aesthetically sound.

And hey, we all know the 4H have practice coming up with alternate color schemes for one or two felines.

On that note though, early box art depicted "multiple" Battle Cats that were just running around and used as mounts for everyone, good or bad.

Obviously there would have to be more of that kind of animal in Eternia, but I did like that about Filmation that they made it kind of exclusive to He-Man.

It's just such a totally iconic image, He-Man atop Battle Cat.

Lets see if all the Pre-Filmation purists out there spend hundreds on BCs, though, and take off the armor to have them roaming around.
