Ecto-Thread: Ghostbusters! (SDCC 2011 News Pg. 18)

For all the lines not covered in our themed forums. Think Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Voltron, Wrestling, Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Video Game Licenses, TV & Film Licenses... do I need to go on or did you have it figured out before I even started?

An LLC or LLP is totally worth it but make Sil the largest shareholder / partner to get the benefits of a female owned business.

We've talked about that, but not gotten around to it.

As for ol' Stay Puft, it really does come down to the Hasbro/Mattel issue for me.

I saw the 12" comic-based Hal at TRU this weekend. A 12" figure based on a hot property and tied-in to this massive marketing blitz for a big movie and it still has the same crappy articulation as Tytus.

I'm not saying I won't buy Stay Puft. I have a Stay Puft shaped notepad from the late 80s in my desk (though it doesn't get used anymore), he looks down on me from a sticker on my "assignment" board for IAT, the vintage figure, the NECA figure, and all but one of the minimates (I missed the angry one :bawl: ) are right here with me.

But I look at it and I feel like I shouldn't buy it.

if you're gut's saying no, don't. simple as that. you don't have to look any further than guru almost wrenching the thing's arm off in the AOTS spot to know it's not likely the "best" stay puft out there.

Q: The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was an unexpected surprise and the Marshmallow Mess Ray looks amazing next to Mr. Puft but unfortunately many of us did not get this figure because we did not purchase a Club Ecto subscription. Will Ray and the other Ghostbusters see release in marshmallow-covered goodness in the near future? Perhaps as a new gift set?

A: Defiantly not. This Ray was special for Club Ecto subscribers and won't be reissued ever. Should have jumped on while you could!

Um... can't you just get a reissue Ray and a bottle of white out? That's all Mattel did...

I know, LOL.

And it's past the point of laughable, Guru's sad attempt at guilting collectors like that.

It's the guilt is why I post it. I just don't see the need for it. Nothing positive comes out of it.

Because apparently it's Mattel's philosophy to make not what collectors want, but some cheap approximation of it, and then to tell us why we need it so bad.

Now that I think about it, I should grab some "roughed" up vintage RGB figures, coat the parts where the paint is worn off in white out, add more white out to flesh out the design, and sell marshmallow mess vintage figures on eBay. :matty:
