The "Catch-(Mostly)-All" Toy Thread

For all the lines not covered in our themed forums. Think Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Voltron, Wrestling, Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Video Game Licenses, TV & Film Licenses... do I need to go on or did you have it figured out before I even started?

My thoughts exactly, it's like a plague in the WWE.

Those wrestling figures look pretty good, as long as QC-wise they're solid figures that stand up to heavy kid play and don't do the DCUC joints twisting off, etc.

But I can't be the only one to see all the unique tooling of that line and then look at DCUC and MOTUC and go :moresad:

look at it this way...Hopefully these sell extremely well. I know at least one person who is going to be getting some.....ME!! Maybe the influx will give them the feeling to go ahead and do this more with other lines.

no, by no means are you the only guy lay-ze... i really want mattel to answer for that, why we're getting TONS of unique tooling for the mass market line, but the collectors get the buck... you're telling me triple h is that much more popular than SUPERMAN?

in the children's demographic....I'm almost willing to say yeah. Children probably are more prone to watch wrestling than buy a three dollar superman comic. Superman also doesn't currently have a show they can watch, so I'm going to say amongst children he might be more popular.

dude... come on man, superman is part of the collective unconscious at this point, kid's are born knowing how to breath, how to cry, and knowing the S shield. none of my adopted mom's made my first born a handmade triple h blankie. the dude's a flash in the pan. supes is forever.

I see far more kids in wrestling shirts then super man shirts. I see far more kids buying wrestling figures than super hero figures....I'm going by what I've seen.

Yeah I know the kiddy/adult collector 1-2 punch will likely have WAY bigger sales numbers than DCUC.

Doesn't mean I have to like it.

the problem is, there's an age divide.. for example, wwe doesn't make stuff for infants and toddlers... but you can find TONS of superman stuff for those age groups... when the kid hits about 5, there's a gulf. comics used to kick in there, but comics aren't sold at street level anymore... i.e. no supermarkets, no wallies, no target, etc... so kids miss that input. if it were there, i think it'd be an easy sell to do a more kid oriented comic... sort of like what's being done w/ batman BatB right now... batman has definitely got the reins right now, and doesn't appear to be letting go anytime soon. but supes has that power, there's just no product for kids to get. and DCUC is a joke. that's not a kid friendly line at all. and DC is missing a HUGE oppurtunity to have something available for kids... that rescue heroes looking line was a way in, but again, it's aimed at the toddler crowd. get them older than that and there's a vacuum.
