DCUC Wave 4 Wonder Woman--Now Expensive!

Postby timh_iat » Mon Aug 26, 2013 7:54 pm

When did DCUC wave 4 Wonder Woman become "rare"? She clocks in at $50 off ebay.

I admit time has flown since 2008 (when I got her, dime a dozen, at Target), and 2009 when I bought Artemis (two times due to playing two auctions) off ebay for $25 each.

But $50? She's cheaper than Despero assembled. Is this a mint-in-box thing and somewhere there is a barrel of used-only-for-display Wonder Woman's at $6 each?

I couldn't tell you. She was painfully common when she was released. Heck, she was released as an "All Star" just a few months after her initial release, so it was a regular sight in my area to find the initial release and the rerelease on the shelves next to one another. Now the Artemis variant I only ever saw once, and am thankful that was one time I wasn't dumb enough to put it back on the shelf.

This isn't confined to just WW, or even DCUC. I remember there were a couple of waves of the Toy Biz Marvel Legends that peg-warmed around me, and then a year or two later were going for $50+ a piece (and this was back when ML figures were still $6-7).

The other 2 like that that I've noticed are the gold Dr. Fate and the long haired Aquaman. I'm still trying to find those 2 for under $50

And here I got the gold Dr. Fate (during the Giganta wave refresh) and almost took it back and exchanged it for the Golden Age version.

Heh, I'd say so. I imagine in 5 years these figs will be back down to $8.

I might be holding on to her just so I can have a WW for my Justice League. I've been meaning to take a minute and separate the DCUC figures I want to keep and ones I'd like to try and sell off.

I got mine for $22.50 at a show. Guy had her for $35 then. The nude modern Cheetah was $45 I think.

Prices can be nuts and now know why miss Toyfare.

I miss Toyfare because it was highly entertaining and sometimes informative.

I'll miss Twisted Toyfare Theatre but the price guides were, at times, padded or even fixed, and the editing of content was often skewed towards the needs of the advertising department.

And then there was the debacle that was their exclusives.
