Anyone gonna make a giant Spirit (from GI Joe) custom?

I guess this Wave is cooler than the last one, but it's a little bit on the niche side for me.

I hope 19 goes back more like the 16 style, and not necessarily Bats characters, but (IMO) more recognizable and iconic figures.

18 is definitely niche, but I think it's a good choice on Mattel's part. I know there's a lot of hate for the SF/SP stuff, but with MOTU Classics, Transformers Generations, and GI Joe 25th- all pulling 80s strings I think it's a good thing for Mattel to try out.

Plus, I think they turned out really well! I was expecting them to be lukewarm, but seeing them in 3D was a nice surprise!

19 is supposed to be a partial JSA/GA theme, so they'll be older iconic hopefully.

STRIPE is the heavy rumored as the C&C and I can't believe they don't throw Stargirl in that wave.

I just think that at this point they need some solid anchor characters in each Wave that are fairly universally known.

And not cheap Bats or Supes or Hal repaints or headswaps or attempts at "modern" looks necessarily.

But at this point, I think a brand-new sculpt iconic Supes wouldn't be a bad idea, that kind of thing.

One of the recent QnAs said the themed waves was just temporary and they were going away from it.

Yeah, I really think mixing it up more is better for the long run.

Weird though, I think approaching Wave 20 is when a toy line needs to try to be as cautious as possible.

You're probably right, but I can see them feeling the need to try something different. A toy line starts to get long in the tooth after 3-4 years. I think the theme waves would've gone better had they chosen better. DCUC16 is a Batman themed wave and none of us batted an eye and I think the JSA theme will go over well.

Yeah. Who knows, maybe they're just running out of characters that will appeal to me on a character familiarity basis as opposed to needing to be a stand-out TOY for me to be interested.

I certainly hope the themed waves are just temporary. I'm more of a fan of the random character waves that can then be put into teams or themes.

I'm loving the SuperFriends characters...but one thrown in a wave here and there would be a better way to go imo. Theres no need to throw out an entire themed wave of SF figures when its taken the entire length of the line to complete a Super Powers collection.

I definitely think they need to scale back the obscure characters and at least throw in one of the 'Big 7" in each wave. A classic Superman using the new articulation. Maybe flat hands and hinged wrists for a flying pose. Or a newly sculpted head on Batman...shelving the Neal Adams long ears for a while and make his ears shorter. Maybe even just some new heads with different facial expressions. A snarling Batman or a yelling Flash. The good thing with all comic book characters is that their looks are constantly being tweaked which gives tons of ideas for reissuing figures
