Ecto-Thread: Ghostbusters! (SDCC 2011 News Pg. 18)

For all the lines not covered in our themed forums. Think Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Voltron, Wrestling, Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Video Game Licenses, TV & Film Licenses... do I need to go on or did you have it figured out before I even started?

MWC has reviewed his 12" Venkman. I gotta admit, I think it's the best of the dolls so far. I'll be adding his review to the Ghostbusters Resource.

Just a heads up on Walter Peck. None of us bought him.

No review is forthcoming. The GBC guide will prolly link to AD, MWC, Poe or whoever reviews him first. I don't want to hate on the line, but I'm very bored with it.

somehow, i saw that coming... the irregular release schedule, the bad character release sequence... they SHOULD have opened up w/ guns blazing and done a four pack of basic GB right up front, then done deluxe single packs of slimed variants and ghosts (starting w/ louis, since the core 4 would already be out), then followed w/ janine and peck, SDCC exclusive vigo, then w/ movie 2 costume single packs w/ more ghosts, then a dana-zul, then gozer in flat top chick mode, a two pack of devil dogs, and a deluxe stay puft for the line's second sdcc packout. then if interest persists, do yanosh and dana normal as a two-pack, ghost-nurse yanosh w/ charlie in stroller, and then two eggs of slime, green and pink.... MAYBE throw in a demon-face vigo and movie 3 janine if demands requires.

but what the mangosteen do i know, right? i'm certainly not qualified to be a brand manager or anything!!

I got Peck.
The Containment Unit really is pretty awesome.
Peck himself is as you'd expect.
The head sculpt is cool, but not quite there, much like most of the line so far.

Seriously debating on Slimed Peter next month . . . he'll sell out no matter what, so he doesn't need my support.
I think if I get a regular Peter, I'm good on the line.

Not to say I wouldn't be tempted by a couple other figs here and there, but this is nowhere near the line I hoped/imagined it might be.

I didn't think they'd follow the TDK MM template so closely.

does anyone else find it ironic that mattel is contracting out the studio of four of the BEST sculptors/fabricators in the business today, and they have them working 4 lines that operate on the "buck" system, the absolute LEAST unique way to make action figures ever. they have to make their own in-house properties to show off the diversity of their skills... 4 lines, that work on extensive parts reuse and the same basic aesthetic for two of those lines.

and it's of note, mattel EMPLOYS AN IN-HOUSE TEAM OF FIGURE CRAFTERS!

Pictures of Peck!
(I'm sure there's a Peter Piper thing to be had here somewhere . . .)

I love that face that Peck is making. I wish he were in scale with DCUC. Thanks for the pics LayZ

No probs!

Yeah, the expression is pretty good. The lackluster paint and semi-soft sculpt are what get me.

As for scale, as you can see I've bought every GB figure so far, and I have most of the TDK MM figures as well, so it's not really an issue for me. [smile]
